THEATRICKS has been providing theatrical and publishing services

to the Queensland performing arts and events industries

since 1988.

Who Are We?

Theatre Consultant  IAIN AUDSLEY was accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Arts ( NIDA) in Sydney in 1971 but after a year of slogging it out on stage, he discovered that his true passion and calling was behind the scenes.

From his early work in Brisbane theatre, both on stage and providing technical expertise backstage, he moved to the Australian Opera building sets, worked with the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust and travelled to London where he worked at the Coliseum before moving back to Australia.

Iain was appointed Technical Co-ordinator of the yet-to-be-built Queensland Performing Arts Complex and built a career with QPAT which spanned more than 26 years as he evolved with the company and moved into roles including production and event management and heading up the set construction workshop.

Iain started THEATRICKS in 1988 when he was asked to provide technical assistance at Expo '88 and the business has provided technical and design assistance - from prop design and construction through to theatre refurbishment and design - to many theatre and event organisations across Queensland.

In the early nineties, THEATRICKS merged with Studio Publications, owned by CARMEL AUDSLEY, so that THEATRICKS could also provide marketing, publicity, writing and publishing services to a growing market.

Carmel is an established Journalist, Editor and Publisher who has worked in newspapers and magazines, and providing marketing, publicity, event co-ordination and publications management for not-for-profit and corporate companies and theatres.  As a result, THEATRICKS won contracts to provide theatre programs for the 1998, 2000 and 2002 Brisbane Festivals and 1999 and 2001 Queensland Biennial of Music Festivals .

THEATRICKS also published Perform Magazine of the Performing Arts for six years (the magazine is currently available at www.performmagazine.com.au), and devised, produced and sponsored the Perform/4MBS Awards for excellence in the performing arts for four years.
